February 23, 2013: Six months old
My dearest Mae,
Happy half birthday my sweetest girl. This post is a week overdue, so lets let the pictures do the talking. We know I could write a book about all that you do if I wanted. At the start of your fifth month we were blessed with a warm day (only around 55) and we took a walk. We let you try out sitting in your stroller without your car seat and you were all about it. After a leisurely stroll you fell asleep and you let Dad and I eat some BBQ at the place down the street. Yum!
Dad went on a man's trip to Delaware with Uncle Bobby and I stayed home with you. But, we got the surprise of the year when Uncle Alan showed up at our door from Florida. He brought you the cutest stuffed giraffe and picture frame.
He stayed the night and helped watch you when I went to work the next day. How sweet!
Later in the week he came back to hang out with us again.
You modeled in your new high chair that we bought for Grandma R.'s house.
Another first was going outside to experience the snow. We bundled you up in a snow suit resembling poor Ralphie's from A Christmas Story, and brought you outside.
You practiced sticking your tongue out hoping to catch some snowflakes when we went outside. But, it stopped snowing before we got outside. Next time!
You weren't really feeling the snow suit.
But, you put on a smile for me.
I just know you will be a snow bunny!
Later in the month we had Uncle Christian over to celebrate his 14th birthday. We made casadillas and lots of yummy food.
Before dinner, we went to the pinball arcade on the Asbury Park boardwalk to play some games.
You took your afternoon nap through all the loud noise while Dad played lots of games.
I couldn't believe you slept through it all!
I even got in a game or two on the Elvis pinball.
And Dad reminisced about the good ol' days when he played the Cyclone.
This month you still played with toys in your high chair while you watched us eat food.
You were especially fond of your spinning suction toys and your musical light up box.
All of the faces you make are the cutest. Your smiley faces...
Your milk coma sleepy face...
Your crank master flex sleepy face...
Your deer in headlights face...
The faces you make are always the cutest! Even the grumpy face you started to make at the tail end of your fifth month. It is the cutest!
One of the happiest times for you is still during your nightly bath time. You are turning out to be a water baby like your momma.
You love sucking the water from the washcloth, chewing on the nesting cups, and hearing Mom sing silly songs with your rattle. Singing Mae, Mae, bo bay always gets a big toothless grin from ya!
Dad continues to hold it down during the day while I am at work. While it is still so undeniably hard to be away from you, you are one lucky girl to have such an amazing dad.
You have been enjoying your toy Grandma R. and Ed got you for Christmas with the balls.
And figuring out how to get the giant spinning balls toy into your mouth always proves to be a good time too.
Your fine motor stills are getting better each day and you are able to pick up so many things now!
But, when some things prove to be too hard Mom or Dad is always there to give you a hand.
This month you started sitting up on your own! Dad and I pull you up and you sit unassisted for at least ten seconds, then slouch forward or back into the Boppy we prop behind you.
Your getting so inquisitive of everything around you, stopping to look around if you hear the slightest noise. You typically talk back quite a lot, especially in the bath! Dad says your talking comes out when I come home from work, but I think he trying to make me feel nice. But, only you truly know.
