Five months old!

January 23, 2012: Five months old

Dear Mae,

Happy five months little peanut! Your one month away from being half a year! One more month away from starting to eat real people food. So very exciting! This monthly update is almost a week late. Not due to a lack of stuff happening this month to write about, but my busy work schedule keeping me from any time to get this blog done. I could write another novel about this past month like I have done in previous posts, but what do you say we try to keep this months update short. Mommy needs some beauty rest at some point.

You started month four celebrating Christmas and your first New Years. You tuckered out pretty early on your first New Years though. I can't wait to buy sparkling cider, plastic champagne glasses and noise makers in the years to come to celebrate with you. We spent New Years day taking you for your first diner visit where Dad and  got some breakfast. Our hearts were heavy as it was my last day on maternity leave before returning to work. But, we brought home some sweet treats to cheer us up!

The first short week of work was filled with many, many tears. Although the tears are farer and fewer between, it still pains me every day to walk out of the house and leave you. Although I love nothing more than to see your smiling face in the wee hours of the morning, it is almost easier to leave while your sleeping. It is just too hard to leave your cheerful self. Your definitely like mommy and am a morning gal! I am working on how doing any school work until you go to sleep so I can spend every hour with you until I give you your 6:30 bath, then bedtime.

Dad has been holding down the fort while I am not home. He is doing an amazing job if I might say so. He texts me during the day to give me updates and sends me pictures of your cute self. How could a face like this not brighten up any day?
We have been playing music nonstop this month. We love to use the egg Grandma R. got us for Christmas to hook up our i-pod and play music. Or Dad breaks out his guitar and serenades you with songs on his guitar. You just love to watch Daddy play!
Mommy just had to take a picture of this. See Mae, real men do change diapers! Dad is never ashamed to change your diaper. Even in the changing room at Babys'R'Us!
This month we stepped up our game and got your play room together. By the end of the month we added on another box of colorful mats to play on. Your a growing girl and needed more room. You just love all of your toys! You got so many cool ones during the holidays that you love to play with! I love that one of your favorite toys has no batteries. We roll the ball down the ramp and you follow it with your eyes as it flies down. Your so cute when you play with the balls as they come rolling out of the bottom.
You've been loving the lights and songs on your V-TECH cube, watching mommy play your xylophone, and so many more. You love to watch mommy pour tea in a cup for you and read you books. Although mommy loves Sandra Boyton books, you love the book with the moving owl in it. A lady who likes owls knows the way to my heart  ;)  As the picture below shows, your brothers are always near you or your toys. Perry tested out your new mat and said he approves.
You are so alert and now notice the dogs whenever they are near you. Perry isn't sure if that is a good thing since you started to try to pull on his tail.
JJ is never too far away either. Whenever you are he is. Always.
To say you have been enjoying your bouncer is definitely an understatement. We took away the thick, pirple wedding photo album and now just have the thin, black photobooth album under your feet. You reach over and grab the monkey and try to push the rings across the bar. You should see yourself in your door jumper too! Your so adorable as you bounce in circles and laugh at mommy singing songs at you.
You have been sitting in your high chair now a lot more. Most times Dad and I don't strap the shoulder straps in and your just fine. The two suction cup toys are your and mommy's favorite, but they always fall off. Boo! You sit with us almost every day before bath time and watch mommy and daddy eat dinner. Soon you will be eating with us!
Your now grab things on your high chair and fling them off onto the floor too. But, you try your best to hold onto your cold teethers. Especially your watermelon one.
Tummy time if definitely improving. You tummy time in your crib, on the couch, and on your play mat in the playroom.
Dad had a good idea to stop giving you teething tabs all the time. We just give you a teether here and there, but it seems like your doing just fine. Those bottom teeth don't seem to want to show up yet and your drooling and sucking your bottom lip stopped near the end of the month.
Dad and I met with your financial advisor and set up your college fund this month. What an exciting thing! We are setting aside money every month to be able to help you buy a car and help you pay for school for whatever career makes you happy one day. You got money for Christmas from your family that we put into your account and Dad and I are putting money that comes in for you in the account. Dad and I just love you so much and can't wait to see what career you choose in life. You are doing to do big, big things princess!
Dad and you celebrated many wins by the Falcons this month. Although we think they are the greatest team know to man (except Man City), they didn't make it to the Superbowl. But hey, at least they won a play off game this year.
Your getting to be such a little person. Your now making all different noises to communicate, bringing out the loud screech every now and then. You've mastered rolling from your back to your front this month- doing it all the time. Your grabbing things with fervor, although your fine motor skills are not quite there yet. And boy oh boy, do you love your musical mirror. You can grab all the items out all on your own.

Your still a tried and true bath lover. I play your water xylophone, making up cooky songs which makes your smile.
I took your five month pictures when I got home from work in the afternoon. Let me tell you. Your definitely my morning girl. You put on such a face it made me laugh. Maybe it the headband.
You starting making silly hand gestures.
Then, you decided it was time to eat to your sticker.
And stick our your tongue at me.
Words can't describe what a sweet, silly, fun girl you are.
You're my best girl.

Love,
Mom
P.S. So much for this being short. I guess I had more photos on my phone than I thought I did.

Happy 27th Birthday Mom!

I am a little late posting, but that is because Mom has been at work and I have been too upset to blog. But, Mom told me not to be sad and that I should put up some pictures from her birthday celebration. On January 5th (Mommy's birthday), we celebrated at Great-Grandma V's house with some of my family.

Your probably wondering why I am holding a birthday sign for Uncle Kenny. Well, that is because his birthday is a few days after Mom's and he celebrated with us too! It was early in the morning when Mom took my picture.
But, I still showed my non-toothy grin for the camera!
Mom printed this picture and put it in a frame for Uncle Kenny. He loves carrot cake, so Mom put a carrot cupcake on the sheet for him.
After wrapping his gift we headed over to Great-Grammy's house.
 Here is the birthday boy!
After Mom opened her gifts I got to sit on Dad's lap at the grown up's table. Woohoo!
 Love you Dad!
Mom brought one of my favorite toys! My Sing-A-Ma-Jig!
Uncle Kenny blew out his carrot cake!
Then, Mom blew out all the owl candles on the peanut butter cake Grandma V. made for her. It's Mom's all time favorite!
Happy 27th Birthday Mom! So glad this birthday I get to spend with you!

The W Word

My dearest Mae,
We have tried to not talk about the w word around this house- work. But, the day has come where I have to return to work and leave you during the day my sweet little girl. Mom's heart has been aching for weeks leading up to this day and I just don't know how I will pull out of the driveway away from you. I haven't been away from you for more than two or three hours to run errands only a few times, and even then it is just too long. I hate to leave you sleeping in your swing to just run into the other room real quick. Just being in your presence brings a smile to my face. Even if your just snoring in your sleep. My favorite time of day is when we wake up early together with our messy hair, just hanging in our pjs. At least I will get to see you early in the morning and get to have long morning hang out sessions on the weekend.
I know these next six months until summer break are going to tug at my heart strings, but I know I have to do it. I care about you too much and know that I must put my big mom pants (or skirt) on so we can keep our health insurance, put away for your college fund, and buy some yummy food for you to eat (in less than 2 months lady!). Dad and I talked about the possibility of me staying home from work next year and I am really hoping we can make it happen. Please know you will be in my thoughts every second I am away from you my sweet little angel.

Love,
Mom
